Atrial Fibrillation, or AF, is the most common arrhythmia (heart rhythm disorder). Over one million people have been diagnosed with AF in the UK alone, although experts estimate that at least a third more remain undiagnosed. With an ageing population, this number is expected to double by 2050. Atrial Fibrillation Awareness Week is happening between the 20-26 November 2017. To find out more about AF, please visit the Heart Rhythm Alliance website.
The Loxford Practice will be doing all they can to help raise awareness on AF. Throughout the week, there will be an information stall in our Waiting Area full of useful leaflets for patients to take. During the week, between 11am-12pm and 3pm-4pm, our staff will be available to check pulses and, if necessary, arrange appointments for further AF checks.
As well as this, flu vaccines will be offered to registered/eligible patients throughout the week on walk-in basis.
