AT Medics commenced its management contract for The Loxford Practice (formerly known as The Practice Loxford) on Monday 1st August 2016.
With a proven track record in rapid mobilisation of clinical services and extensive experience in clinical turnaround where governance issues exist, AT Medics are committed to delivering similar improvement that they have evidenced at the nearby Albert Road and Britannia Village practices in Newham, where they have achieved a huge reputational shift since they began managing them in 2015, as well as across London at several other practices since 2004.
In May 2015, the Care Quality Commission placed The Practice Loxford (the former name of The Loxford Practice) in “special measures”. Practices placed in special measures are given six months to make significant improvements or face enforcement procedures, and The Practice Loxford was rated overall “inadequate” under the management of The Practice Plc.
This followed an earlier inspection in March 2014, where recommendations had been made to the service provider (The Practice Plc) to improve the service in several areas.
AT Medics has now procured a 5 year renewable management contract from 1 August 2016, and is committed to ensuring significant improvements, many of which are to be implemented immediately.
With extensive experience in clinical turnaround where governance issues exist, AT Medics has embraced the challenge of significant improvements for The Loxford Practice, and has already delivered practical improvement measures; a number of permanent and part-time GPs will be joining the practice, in addition to prescribing pharmacists, and this will undoubtedly establish stability, increased safety and high-quality standards of patient care. AT Medics senior managers have also been deployed to ensure that system changes are implemented comprehensively from day one, and key issues related to access and patient engagement are already being addressed.
In nearby Newham, Albert Road and Britannia Village Surgeries have been managed by AT Medics since 2015. Both practices have been awarded Investors in People accreditation (world-class management framework for staff high performance) and ISO 9001 (internationally recognised standard for quality management) together with significant clinical and patient satisfaction improvements. AT Medics will be utilising this experience and their resources for holistic development at The Loxford Practice.
Dr Muneeb Choudhry, AT Medics GP Director commented “We certainly have been presented with a challenge with The Loxford Practice, though we embrace this and we are committed to delivering a high-quality patient care standard – this is what every patient deserves, and it is the foundation of our organisational ethos. We will deliver a safe, caring, responsive, effective and well-led GP service here.
One of our top priorities is to ensure that the patient experience at The Loxford Practice is vastly improved, ensured through better patient engagement, improved access, robust clinical governance and ultimately a high quality and safe service.
We also need to work smarter and to be innovative in the way we deliver care, so we have already launched a new website for The Loxford Practice patients (www.loxfordgp.co.uk), available to translate instantly into any language, and this resource enables and promotes patient services such as Online Appointment booking, viewing your Medical Records and ordering Repeat Prescriptions – we will be working with our patient group to help them to access these resources to ultimately enhance their experience.
I am pleased to welcome the team at The Loxford Practice to the AT Medics family, and we are working together to build the culture and ethos required for significant improvement and change. I am confident that The Loxford Practice patients will experience the same high levels of quality care that we already deliver at our other practices.”
It is with great pleasure that AT Medics has accepted a contract to manage The Loxford Practice.
